Secret Santa RoomA little magic, together.
THE SIMPLE RULES

How Does Secret Santa Work?

Each person gives one gift to a randomly assigned person. The recipient does not know who drew them until the exchange, unless your group decides otherwise.

Six steps for the organizer

Decide these details before you ask anyone to join.

  • 1. Invite people who want to participate; make it optional.
  • 2. Agree on a spending limit and whether it includes tax and delivery.
  • 3. Pick an exchange date and how gifts will reach people.
  • 4. Create a room, share its link or six-character code, and wait for everyone to join.
  • 5. Set exclusions for people who must not draw each other, check that a draw is possible, then draw names.
  • 6. Ask everyone to check their private match and wish list, buy a gift, and exchange on the agreed date.

Check before drawing

Confirm the guest list, budget, date and exclusions. A participant cannot draw themselves. Too many exclusions can make a valid draw impossible, so relax a restriction before trying again.

Keep the surprise fair

Ask everyone to save their personal link. The host sees participation and progress, not the private pairings. If someone cannot attend, arrange delivery or a later handoff before the draw rather than leaving a recipient without a gift.

Common questions

Can the host see who drew whom?

No. Matches stay private to each participant; the stage shows progress, not assignments.

What if exclusions prevent a draw?

Remove or adjust a restriction and try again. A valid assignment must exist for everyone before the draw can complete.
