Secret Santa Name Picker

A name picker has three jobs: assign every name exactly once, keep each assignment private, and respect the pairs who must not draw each other.

How the picker works

The host creates a room and everyone joins from one link or six-character code. When the guest list is final, the host starts the draw: the picker assigns every person a name, applies exclusions, and shows each match only to the person who drew it.

  • Create a room and invite everyone by link or QR code.
  • Add exclusions for partners or coworkers who must not draw each other.
  • Draw once; every person is assigned and no redraw is needed.
  • Each guest opens their match on their own phone; the shared stage shows progress only.

Why not paper slips

Slips of paper leak: names are visible as they come out of the hat, one dropped slip can end the game, and anyone absent cannot take part. An online picker also checks that your exclusions still allow a valid draw before assigning anyone, instead of failing halfway through.

Works for groups of 3 to 50

Families, offices and remote teams can use the same room with 3 to 50 people. Guests keep a personal link to revisit their match and wish list; nothing is emailed, so nobody can peek at another assignment.

Common questions

Can the host see who drew whom?

No. The host sees who has joined and whether the draw is done, never the assignments.

What if exclusions make the draw impossible?

Too many exclusions can rule out every valid assignment. Remove or relax one restriction, then draw again.
